It started as a normal evening scrolling through TikTok. The endless stream of videos lulled you into a semi-conscious state until something bizarre appeared on your feed. A video titled “Catnap” caught your eye. The thumbnail was a cat with glowing eyes, which was unsettling, but you tapped it anyway.
The video was private, with a description that simply read, “Stop scrolling on May 12.” Curiosity got the better of you, so you watched it.
In the video, a cat lay on a bed, seemingly sleeping. As you watched, the cat suddenly opened its eyes and stared directly at the camera. It then said, in a voice that seemed almost human, “Stop scrolling.”
You hesitated, your thumb hovering over the screen, but something compelled you to keep watching. The cat’s gaze was unnervingly intense. Then, just as you began to scroll up, the video cut out abruptly. Instead of the expected end, a new scene appeared: a strange, almost surreal video featuring a figure who looked like CG5, the popular music artist.
The figure spoke directly to the camera, “You will never be able to scroll away.” You felt a chill run down your spine as you realized that the figure wasn’t CG5 at all, but something much more sinister. The image flickered and changed into the cat from the previous video.
Before you could react, the cat on the screen lunged toward the camera, its eyes glowing brighter. The video turned into a horrifyingly realistic scene of the cat scratching and clawing at the screen. Panic set in as you tried to close the app, but your fingers felt numb. The cat’s claws seemed to reach out from the screen, scratching and tearing through reality itself.
The last thing you saw before everything went black was the cat’s eyes, filled with malicious glee. When you finally came to, the video had disappeared from your feed, but the unsettling feeling remained. And for some reason, your scrolling was stuck on that one video, as if the app itself was mocking you.
Rumors spread about the video, but no one seemed to know where it came from or why it was so dangerous. Some say that if you watch it after May 12, you’ll be trapped in the endless cycle of trying to scroll away, but never being able to escape the cat’s malevolent gaze.
You were one of the unlucky ones. Your friends noticed the change in you, but you could never explain why you were so terrified of your own phone. The catnap video remains a mystery, an enigma that has claimed more than just a few souls. They say if you look closely, you might still see the reflection of those glowing eyes in the corner of your screen.
And remember, if you come across a video that tells you to stop scrolling, maybe it’s best to listen.
